Processes of the SAP Business Warehouse

The SAP Business Warehouse system is also known as the Business Information Warehouse and is an optimized data repository. Data is loaded into the Business Warehouse (BW) for a range of use cases like analysis and report generation. The data can also be consolidated and exported.

In the modern business environment, it is crucial to report, analyze, and interpret business data to ensure that companies preserve and improve their competitive edge by responding quickly to market needs. These objectives can be attained by businesses through SAP BW which also allows quick integration, transformation, and consolidation of critical business information from SAP applications and external data sources.

SAP BW also offers a high-performing infrastructure to evaluate and interpret data. Company executives can make well-considered decisions and identify target-based activities based on the processed and analyzed data.

One of the following methods is adopted to load data into SAP BW.

• File interface: This is a batch mode operation supported through the file adapter by the WebSphere Transformation Extender. The file interface requires that data should be passed to the SAP BW in files which are then loaded by a batch operation.

SAP BW Staging BAPI Interface: This is the interface that collects data in “real-time” via a scheduler from external sources of data and loads it into the Business Warehouse system. The WebSphere Transformation Extender BW Staging BAPI adapter supports the interface in the pack.

The SAP BW Scheduler primarily carries out InfoRequests. The requests are created by the InfoSource and Source System and differentiate between the master and transactional data. The Source System is connected to the BW through the Scheduler that allows you to know when data is requested from which InfoSource and Source System.
